CalClarity Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 7, 2026

Effective date: August 7, 2026

CalClarity (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the CalClarity mobile application. This policy explains what information we process, why we process it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

By using CalClarity, you acknowledge that your information will be handled as described in this policy. Please do not use the service if you do not agree.

1. Information we process

1.1 Account information

When you create or access an account, we may process your email address, email verification code, Apple or Google sign-in identifiers, internal user ID, and account security records. We use this information to authenticate you, secure your account, and provide support.

1.2 Profile and health-related information

You may provide gender, date of birth, height, weight, target weight, activity level, dietary preferences, meal records, exercise records, fasting records, progress photos, and other information you choose to log. We use it to calculate calorie and nutrition targets, show trends, and personalize the service.

CalClarity is a wellness tool and not a medical service. The information it provides is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

1.3 Content you submit

Depending on the features you use, we process meal photos, progress photos, text, voice input converted to text, feedback, and other content you submit. We process only the content needed to perform the action you request.

1.4 Device and usage information

We may automatically receive app version, device model, operating system, language, time zone, IP address, timestamps, feature interactions, diagnostics, and crash or security logs. We use these records to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve CalClarity.

1.5 Device permissions

CalClarity requests a permission only when a related feature needs it. You can deny or later withdraw permissions in system settings.

We do not use Health data for advertising and do not sell it.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • provide accounts, food logging, nutrition estimates, goals, reminders, reports, health sync, and other requested features;
  • personalize calorie, nutrition, activity, and progress insights;
  • recognize meal images and interpret text you submit;
  • maintain subscriptions and restore purchases;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
  • diagnose failures, answer support requests, and improve the service; and
  • meet legal, safety, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. If you are in California, this means we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are commonly defined under the CCPA/CPRA for advertising purposes.

3. AI processing

When you use AI-powered recognition or analysis, we send the meal image or text you selected, plus the minimum technical context required to process it, to contracted AI infrastructure providers. Our current primary provider is Alibaba Cloud DashScope International (Qwen models). Their response is used to return the recognition or analysis you requested. We may use other evaluated providers as needed; the substance of this disclosure still applies.

Do not submit content you do not want processed by these providers. If you do not use an AI feature, we do not send the corresponding image or text for that feature.

4. Subscriptions and RevenueCat

CalClarity Pro purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive your complete card number or store password.

We use the RevenueCat Purchases SDK to load store products, show localized prices, verify subscription status, and restore purchases across your devices. RevenueCat may process your CalClarity user ID, product and transaction identifiers, subscription status, app/device details, IP address, and diagnostics. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. Apple and Google process purchase information under their own privacy policies.

5. When we share information

We share only the information needed with service providers that help us operate CalClarity, such as hosting and storage providers, verification and email providers, AI processing providers, analytics and diagnostics providers, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. These providers may use information only to provide contracted services or as otherwise disclosed in their policies.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, with your direction or consent, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets subject to appropriate notice and safeguards.

6. International processing and storage

Your information may be processed and stored in the countries or regions where we and our service providers operate. These locations may have privacy laws different from those in your country. Where required (including under GDPR and similar laws), we use appropriate contractual, consent, security, or other legal safeguards for cross-border processing.

7. Retention and security

We retain information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain required transaction records, and comply with law. We then delete or de-identify it unless a longer period is legally required. We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, but no system is completely secure.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable law (including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA where they apply) to access, correct, download, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, or withdraw consent. You can edit many profile and log records in CalClarity and manage permissions in system settings.

To delete your account, open Profile → Account Security → Delete Account. You may also contact us. Account deletion is irreversible and does not automatically cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; manage or cancel that subscription in your store account. We may need to verify your identity, and legal retention exceptions may apply.

9. Children

CalClarity is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as CalClarity, our providers, or applicable laws change. We will post the updated date and provide additional notice when required. Continued use after an update means the new policy applies to subsequent use.
